FAQS

It is only logical to want a clear understanding of what this service provides. So, what is mastering? And does your track need it?
Mastering is the final step in the production of a track or album. This means that the mastering engineer ensures the track is ready for release into the real world, making it competitive against other tracks in the same genre.
What can you expect to happen to your mix in the mastering stage?
There is no concise answer to this question, as every mix is different and may require different actions. Generally speaking, you can expect the track to sound louder, with subtle changes in tone to make it clearer. Additionally, audio restoration may take place (removing noise, tape hiss, mouth clicks, guitar squeaks, etc.), and the track may gain more depth and width, sound tighter, and even exhibit more coloration if the situation demands it. As mentioned earlier, there are numerous approaches and decisions in mastering a track, always with the premise of respecting and enhancing the production and mix.
Please keep in mind that mastering is just one part of the entire production process. A good master can go a long way, but the quality and rigor of the song begin in the tracking stage and continue through to mastering.

References can serve as valuable guidelines for a project. These may include songs within the same genre, tracks that have influenced your artistic vision, or those with specific details you appreciate. All information is welcome. Sharing the identity and expectations of the track is crucial to ensuring everyone is in sync. It fosters a collaborative understanding and enhances the overall coherence of the project.
I strongly recommend turning off 'Normalization' in Spotify's settings for a more realistic comparison with the references.
